Strava buys UK-based personalized running plan app Runna

Strava has strategically acquired Runna to expand its exercise tracking capabilities. This deal aligns perfectly with Strava's goal of offering personalized running plans and coaching through Runna's expertise. The acquisition comes as Strava saw a 43% surge in members aiming for major races, driven by nearly 1 billion runs worldwide in 2024. CEO Michael Martin emphasized the strategic value of this move after last year's rapid growth, which included features like family plans and night heat maps. Runna, already a global leader with 180 employees and apps in over 180 countries, will likely integrate into Strava's ecosystem but could soon merge its app to enhance user experience.
