Tesla loses more ground in Europe, while BYD makes gains

Tesla sales in Europe and the U.K. dropped nearly 50% last month, with only 7,261 vehicles sold—a sharp decline compared to the same period a year ago. Despite Tesla's recent introduction of the Model Y, which typically boosts sales, the company has faced struggles globally, including a 33% quarterly drop in deliveries and political backlash tied to CEO Elon Musk's involvement with U.S. President Donald Trump. New car registrations in Europe fell slightly, while electric vehicle (EV) sales grew by 27.8%, though they remain a smaller share of the market. Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturers like BYD saw their EV registrations surge by 59% due to reduced EU tariffs.
