Residents pick up the pieces one day after deadly China chemical blast

Residents near a chemical plant in Shandong province reported thick black smoke following an explosion that killed at least five people, injuring 19 others, and leaving six missing as emergency services tended to the site. The incident occurred earlier when thick smoke filled the area for over a kilometer, with tests on air quality results not yet available. The plant, established in 2019, operates chemical production for pesticides and pharmaceuticals on a 47-hectare site employing more than 300 workers.
