U.N. Court Drops Sudan’s Genocide Case Against U.A.E.

The United Nations' top court dismissed a case alleging the United Arab Emirates supportedparamilitary forces in Sudan, which could implicate their participation in the country's civil war. The court, without ruling on Sudan's allegations against the UAE, removed the case from its list after a 14-2 vote against granting emergency measures and a subsequent 9-7 dismissal of the case. This decision is partly due to the UAE's opt-out from a Genocide Convention clause and their involvement with influential paramilitary groups in Sudan.
