UK police charge three Iranians with suspected espionage

British police have charged three Iranians with suspected espionage activities related to Iran’s intelligence services between August 2024 and February 2025. The men, including a 39-year-old man, face charges under the National Security Act and are set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later Saturday. A fourth Iranian was released after being detained as part of a counterterrorism probe, while Iran has been placed on the UK’s highest tier of its Foreign Influence Registration Scheme (FIRS) to combat covert foreign influences.
