Discord's CEO and co-founder is stepping down

Discord's CEO Jason Citron has announced his stepping down as co-founder and CEO, to be replaced by former Activision Blizzard executive Humam Sakhnini. Citron will remain on the company’s board, while Stanislav Vishnevskiy will take over as CTO. In a statement, Citron emphasized Discord's mission to unite people around games, which has evolved into a global social platform with 200 million monthly users. Meanwhile, Sakhnini, who previously served as a CFO at a public company and led Candy Crush creator King Digital, is well-suited to steer Discord toward a potential IPO following rumors of its possible acquisition by Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.
