Summary
Heavy rain-induced disasters have claimed 52 lives and displaced over 800 families in Rwanda’s high-risk districts, including Nyarugenge, Kicukiro, and Gasabo. At least 19 houses have collapsed while 731 are damaged across eight areas expected to face significant rainfall this month. The Ministry of Emergency Management has identified disaster hotspots affecting nearly 22,000 households in need of urgent relocation. With forecasted heavy rainfall ranging from 300 to 350 mm in some districts and lower amounts elsewhere, thousands of families are preparing for displacement and shelter.
