Microsoft has introduced a ban on DeepSeek following concerns about data security and potential propaganda influence, especially due to its Chinese server storage. The company did not allow employees or the app store to include DeepSeek, which is open-source with risks of spreading censorship or harmful content. To mitigate these risks, Microsoft offered a specific AI model from DeepSeek via Azure but refrained from including the full DeepSeek application. Despite this, some chatbot competitors like Perplexity remain available in the Windows app store.
