Almost 300m people at risk of death through starvation – report

Food insecurity has escalated alarmingly, with nearly 300 million people at risk of starvation due to conflicts, funding cuts, climate stressors, and economic shocks. A report reveals acute food insecurity has surged by an additional 13.7 million globally in the past year, marking six consecutive years of rising cases affecting over 295 million people across 53 countries. Severe malnutrition is most prevalent in Gaza, Sudan, and Mali, while droughts are intensifying food shortages in Ethiopia and Somalia. Funding cuts have disproportionately impacted children, leaving them vulnerable to acute malnutrition and poised for further hardship.
