Valerie the dachshund is found safe and well after 529 days on the run on South Australian island

For months on Kangaroo Island, Australia’s beloved dachshund Valerie searched for by her owner Georgia Gardner and partner Josh Fishlock had been missing since 2023. After an extensive search involving over 1,000 hours of effort, Valerie was finally rescued last week after spending 529 days on the run. The rescue was a huge victory for conservationists who had hoped Valerie would return to her loving family with ease.
