Everything but the Beholders: D&D updates core rules, sticks with CC license

D& D's core rulebooks have been opened up under a Creative Commons license, allowing for further modifications but with a revised approach now, including a new reference document. Initially inspired by Stallman's GPL, WotC had sought to allow unlimited changes, which led to pushback and legal challenges, prompting them to release this System Reference Document under similar terms as their OGL, ensuring long-term stability while addressing feedback from the community.
