Jayaram said he did some research, and came across “the possibility of something called an ‘air embolism’”. Based on that paper, Letby would be accused of injecting air into babies’ veins, although the study also comprised babies undergoing high-pressure ventilation. He acknowledged that the prosecution’s expert radiologist and pathologist did not find any “diagnostic” medical evidence of air embolism.
