‘World’s largest’ electric ship measuring 130 metres launched by Tasmanian boatbuilder

An Australian boatbuilder has unveiled what it claims is the world’s largest battery-powered ship, marking a significant milestone in sustainable maritime transport. Built by Incat in Tasmania, the vessel, named Hull 096, will operate entirely on electricity between Buenos Aires and Uruguay, carrying up to 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles. The ship features advanced energy storage systems and is set to demonstrate large-scale low-emission solutions as a model for future green shipping applications.
