Schools in England and Wales urged to teach relationship violence prevention

Educators are urging schools to designate relationship violence prevention leaders inspired by mental health coordinators, as teachers struggle to address complex issues like emotional abuse and power imbalances in RSHE classes. A study reveals that nearly a third of teachers lack training in recognizing healthy relationships or helping students break harmful connections. The Youth Endowment Fund proposes a pilot scheme offering £8,000 to schools for training these leaders or external support, aiming to enhance discussions on empathy, negotiation, and emotional resilience.
