Most expecting and new mothers in poverty lack funds for basic necessities: survey

New mothers in Japan face significant financial challenges, often struggling to meet basic living expenses. To address this, Save the Children Japan introduced the Hello! Baby Box initiative in 2022, providing essential baby supplies to those who need it most. A survey conducted among 254 eligible women revealed that 80% lack sufficient funds for daily needs, underscoring the program's importance in alleviating these burdens and improving child care costs for vulnerable mothers.
