Worker shortage forcing home care providers to turn away clients, survey finds

A critical shortage of home care workers is causing providers to deny service and leading to widespread revenue losses in the sector, according to a recent survey by the Nippon Careservice Craft Union. Nearly 90% of facility managers have turned down clients due to staffing shortages since early 2024, while over half of businesses reported year-over-year revenue drops, with many blaming staffing issues for the decline in demand.
