It's last call for Skype as the once-popular video calling app shuts down

Skype, once the go-to platform for online video calls, will officially shut down on May 5 after Microsoft, its owner, announced in February that it would remain available until then. Users are encouraged to switch to Microsoft Teams, which now includes video calling features. While Skype was a pioneer in the space and supported countless interactions, its user base has dwindled as competition from Zoom, WhatsApp, and Slack has grown.
