Japan stuck at starting line in tariff talks with U.S. as U.K. inks deals

Far from lifting Japan closer to its own trade deal, the US-UK agreement on tariffs barely moves the needle for its efforts—analysts point out that while progress has been made elsewhere, Japan still faces significant hurdles. The UK, as a trade deficit country with U.S. relations, remains in a different league compared to Japan's situation; its position is far more complicated than Japan's.
