Bakersfield girl who faced deportation and loss of lifesaving medical care is allowed to stay in U.S.

A 4-year-old girl with a rare medical condition known as short bowel syndrome is in critical condition due to her inability to absorb nutrients, putting her at risk of death within days if she loses access to lifesaving treatment. Her family, originally granted temporary legal entry in 2023 into the U.S., had their humanitarian protections revoked by the Trump administration, leaving them vulnerable to deportation. Recently, they were grantedHumanitarian Parole for a year, allowing them to continue their medical care and safety.
