Cannes is taking a significant step toward tightening its red carpet protocol by prohibiting full nudity and clothing that could impede guests or complicate screenings at the Palais. The move, following incidents of toplessness in 2022 and high volumes at Grammys earlier this year, reflects an update to its charter while still respecting cultural norms like "elegant" footwear, which has evolved from high heels to low ones over time. While specific rules about train lengths are still under consideration, the festival is also reserving the right to deny access to guests whose attire might cause traffic issues or safety hazards.
