Japan to resist Trump efforts to form trade bloc against China

Japan is taking steps to avoid U.S.-backed trade blocs with China due to its ties with Beijing. The country aims to negotiate trade relief before the current tariffs expire in 90 days, with officials targeting an agreement by June's Group of Seven summit. At the same time, Japan doesn't want to become entangled in U.S.-led efforts to pressure China over its trade relations with Tokyo.
