How Maryland Hit Its 30x30 Goal

Maryland has achieved a significant milestone by permanently protecting more than 1.9 million acres of critical natural areas, including a fish hatchery and vast woodland preserves, well ahead of its "30 by 30" conservation target, part of a global effort to safeguard 30% of Earth's land and waters by 2030. Gov. Wes Moore announced the state’s progress in meeting this goal six years early, with plans to conserve an additional 40% of Maryland’s land by 2040.
