Google has bolstered Android 16's defenses by adding measures to protect users from phone and text scams, including safeguarding against social engineering tactics where scammers manipulate instead of hack. Enhanced features include limiting app access during calls, disabling a default security tool, and restricting unverified app downloads. Additionally, Google's AI in Messages now detects more scams like toll fees, crypto fraud, financial impersonation, gift card, and technical support scams, aiming to combat manipulative tactics targeting users' cash or privacy.
