Arsenal's Alessia Russo wins Women's FWA Player of the Year

Alessia Russo has won the FWA Women's Player of the Year award, becoming the second Arsenal player to do so after Vivianne Miedema in 2020. The Italy international, who plays for Arsenal, leads the WSL Golden Boot with 12 goals and two assists in 20 games. She also claimed third place last year alongside Manchester City's Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw. Russo has been pivotal for Arsenal this season, helping them reach their first Champions League final in 18 years. The forward scored seven goals in Europe and earned a nomination for WSL Player of the Season.
