Company boss held on suspicion of abandoning father's body at storage site

Ryuma Hanayama, the president of a construction firm, was arrested for allegedly abandoning the body of his 87-year-old father, Ryuichi Hanayama, at a materials storage yard in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The man reportedly denied the allegations but described what happened as "the worst thing" during an interview with investigators. The body was discovered buried underground on April 18, wrapped in a plastic sheet, after investigators reviewed surveillance footage identifying a suspicious vehicle used to transport Ryuichi's father. Authorities are investigating whether murder occurred and have noted prior disputes between the suspect and his father.
