Delivery driver pleads guilty to stealing $2.5m from DoorDash

A former food delivery driver, Sayee Chaitanya Reddy Devagiri, pleaded guilty to conspiring in wire fraud related to a scheme to defraud DoorDash by making customers pay for non-existent deliveries. Devagiri, 30, of Newport Beach, California, manipulated the company’s systems using customer accounts and software access to create fraudulent orders that were then delivered as if they had arrived. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, with plans to return to court on September 16. Devagiri is one of three defendants who have pleaded guilty to participating in the conspiracy; others include Manaswi Mandadapu and Tyler Thomas Bottenhorn.
