Meta’s going to revive an old nuclear power plant

Meta has teamed up with a shuttered nuclear power plant in Illinois to keep it operational for 20 years, adding an extra 30 megawatts of energy output. This collaboration helps Meta expand its operations and reduce its carbon footprint by providing clean energy certificates from the plant's management, Constellation Energy, which had already applied to renew its license until 2047. As Meta's first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a nuclear facility, this move underscores its commitment to sustainable energy sources while addressing challenges like rising emissions tied to AI growth.
