Chimpanzees Filmed Getting Drunk Together in World First

In a study of wild west African chimpanzees, researchers discovered that these creatures enjoy sharing fermented fruit, a social activity reminiscent of ours. The footage, captured by motion-activated cameras in Guinea-Bissau's forests, shows chimps voluntarily sharing ethanol-laced fruits with low alcohol content (0.01% to 0.6%), which could help them bond and survive. This behavior suggests that our love for alcohol might have evolutionary roots tied to primate ancestors' ability to metabolize it, predating humans by millions of years.
