OpenAI is rolling out shopping features to ChatGPT Search, allowing users on all tiers to browse and compare products in categories like fashion, beauty, home goods, and electronics, with more categories expanding soon. The company promises that search results are independently chosen and free from ads. Additionally, users can now get answers via WhatsApp chat with ChatGPT and access improved citations and trend searches. While ChatGPT may not always provide accurate product info, OpenAI uses data from sources like Wired through license agreements. The company aims to boost its $4 billion revenue by 2029 by tripling it to $125 billion, primarily relying on subscriptions and API licensing.
