Israelis Shocked and Horrified by Embassy Shooting

Shocked and angered by the antisemitic act of violence, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the shooting at the embassy as a "horrifying antisemitic murder." The victims, Sarah Lynn Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, were leaving an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee when a suspect, who was later arrested, publicly declared "Free free Palestine" before being taken into custody. The Israeli ambassador, Yechiel Leiter, noted that the victims were a couple awaiting marriage. Foreign Minister Gideon Saar condemned the attack as part of a broader pattern of antisemitism since Israel's conflict with Hamas in October 2023.
