It’ll soon be free to publish apps to the Microsoft Store

Microsoft is eliminating its developer onboarding fees for the Microsoft Store on Windows starting in June 2025, aiming to simplify the process for creators while responding to legal pressure from Apple over similar measures. While the company retains a 12% charge for games and a 15% cut for non-gaming apps within its commerce platform, this move reflects its broader strategy to compete more effectively with Apple's App Store and Google's Play store on Android.
