Letter by high-profile Titanic survivor sells for record £300,000

A letter from survivor Col Archibald Gracie, detailing his harrowing experience on the Titanic, sold for an eye-catching £300,000 at auction, becoming the most expensive item ever realized for a Titanic passenger's letter. The 189-page document, written over four sides and originally intended to be a posthumous note, was found in a cache of documents by Gracie’s great-uncle after his death. It revealed he spent much of the journey chaperoning women who survived, including a group of women who later joined his lifeboat.
