Patreon’s app can now accept web payments after US App Store changes

Patreon has introduced an updated iOS app that enables users to pay creators via web-based methods, including credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, and Apple Pay, following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling against Apple's App Store fees for developers. Previously, only Apple's in-app purchases were available; now, these options are limited to a small text below a prominent "Join" button, potentially diverting more customers away from Apple's platform. This shift may encourage users to visit the Patreon website directly for payments. The company is also exploring ways to help creators transition off subscription billing following the court decision.
