Nintendo grants itself the power to brick Switches with pirated games

Nintendo’s latest update to its User Agreement could make enforcement of its anti-piracy policies tougher. By prohibiting users from bypassing, decrypting, modifying, or tampering with Nintendo account services, the company aims to make its Switch devices unworkable if pirated games or mods are found. This follows a recent lawsuit against the popular Yuzu emulator and the shutdown of another emulator, Ryujinx, after Nintendo offered to shut it down. With the Switch 2 on the horizon, Nintendo is taking a tougher stance against piracy as it prepares for its next generation console release.
