Amazon and Stellantis abandon project to create a digital “SmartCockpit”

Stellantis and Amazon have ended their collaboration on car software after the delayed launch of SmartCockpit, their jointly developed in-car system that was supposed to integrate with customers' digital lives. The delay, announced in 2024 despite a 2022 partnership kick-off, saw Stellantis selecting AWS for cloud services and Amazon securing its first customer with an electric ProMaster EV van. The companies now aim to focus on solutions better aligned with their evolving strategies, allowing each to concentrate on value-added offerings.
