Michael Dunlop gives Ducati their first Isle of Man TT win in 30 years

Michael Dunlop, the most successful Isle of Man TT racer of all time, made history once again at this year’s event by not just taking his 30th career win on the first day of racing but by doing it on a Ducati, handing the Italian marque their first at the TT in 30 years. The racing has so far been badly disrupted by weather conditions on the Isle of Man, with the Supersport race originally scheduled to kick off the event alongside Saturday’s sidecar race, followed by a six-lap Superbike race on Sunday. “Ducati wanted to dip their hand in it last year,” Dunlop added. “We went in blind and I wanted to take it steady, so considering that the lap times are pretty good. Leading the shortened two-lap race from start to finish, they also raised the lap record by setting the first ever 121 mph average lap of the circuit.
